Given his prior rank, the difference he'll notice is that while he's expected to participate in the teambuilding exercises, Kwoon Combat Room Training, and other such communal events, plus extra volunteer time in any particular class or area where he may excel or be used as a teaching example. He retains his Ranger rank, but will be working directly with the Cadets.

To ensure a sense of relaxation within the Barracks, he'll be assigned to live with Andrea, whose partner is currently on L.O.A. The PPDC as a whole wouldn't want him isolated on his own.

His fellows who are Cadets should still be referring to him by Ranger and addressing him with sir, until he asks them to do otherwise. He'll be expected to help put the Cadets at ease and work like the rest in creating trust and respect-based relationships to carry them through to success.

In this case, he's not attempting to re-Graduate from the program, but he is attempting to form those strong bonds with the people who are just entering the program.
